The Bus Reservation System in Django Python is a web-based application designed to automate the process of bus ticket reservations, cancellations, and schedule management. Users can search routes, view seat availability in real time, make reservations, cancel bookings, and track their travel history, while administrators can manage buses, routes, schedules, bookings, and generate reports. Built using the Django web framework, the system follows the MVT (Model-View-Template) architecture, ensuring scalability, data security, and user-friendly interaction. The goal of this project is to provide a reliable, centralized platform that enhances efficiency, accuracy, and convenience in bus travel reservations.
Existing System
In the current scenario, bus reservations are often handled manually at ticket counters or through phone calls. These methods are time-consuming, prone to human errors, and lack real-time seat availability updates. Customers must physically visit booking offices, leading to inconvenience, especially during rush hours or emergencies. Manual systems also face challenges in tracking cancellations, maintaining records, generating reports, and preventing overbookings. Even existing semi-digital platforms are often limited in functionality and do not fully integrate inventory, payments, and scheduling, which causes inefficiency and delays in booking.
Proposed System
The proposed Django-based Bus Reservation System automates ticket booking and schedule management. Passengers can sign up, log in, view bus schedules, check available seats, reserve tickets, cancel reservations, and get confirmation via email/SMS. Administrators can add or edit bus details, define routes, set timings, monitor seat occupancy, and generate reports for better management. Features such as role-based dashboards, secure authentication, payment integration, and real-time availability updates make the system reliable and user-friendly. Compared to manual methods, this system ensures 24/7 accessibility, reduced booking errors, transparent seat availability, streamlined administration, and enhanced customer satisfaction.
