Incremental Conductance (INC) MPPT
Incremental Conductance (INC) Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is an advanced algorithm used in photovoltaic (PV) systems to continuously extract the maximum available power from a solar panel under changing environmental conditions such as irradiance and temperature. Unlike simpler methods, the INC algorithm uses the relationship between incremental conductance and instantaneous conductance to accurately determine the Maximum Power Point (MPP).
The algorithm is based on the principle that the slope of the PV power-voltage (P-V) curve is zero at the MPP. It continuously measures the changes in panel voltage and current and calculates the incremental conductance (ΔI/ΔV). By comparing this value with the negative instantaneous conductance (-I/V), the controller determines whether the operating point is to the left or right of the MPP and adjusts the converter duty cycle accordingly.
